No matter how many times I looked at the submissions and re-sorted the set, this evocative photograph of a guitar player, with its stark and compelling graphic qualities, the use of negative space, and the simplicity of its emotion and message grabbed my eye. I was indeed compelled to place it number one of my choices. It is truly a wonderful photo … I wish I’d made it myself.

The runner up pick was even harder. I picked three, and which position they play in priority is edged one over the other by so slight a margin that I cannot call it, it changes every time I look at them. They are all more than worthy of Honorable Mention.

The eyes, the expressions, everything in this photo hangs together in a way that is beyond marvelous. The masters of street photography would be very proud to include this in their portfolios.

All three of these photos live amongst the very best Minox work I have ever seen. Unfortunately, the ones I do not mention are, from moment to moment as I view them, so good it’s an anxious moment that I’ve called the right ones.
ALL entrants in the 2010 MHS Photo Contest, Session 2, should be extremely proud. None of the entries were anything but wonderful to see, and the only reason to rank them at all is a superficiality borne of having a contest in the first place. I would be honored to have a print of every one of these photos on my wall.

Thanks for the vote Godfrey. I am honored!
You are sooo correct in saying that all entries are wonderful images.
Thanks again!
